Sean Donaghy was born in West Belfast in the 1950’s, he was taught Art in primary school by the Christian Brothers who discovered a talent to be developed from an early age, Sean was asked daily to do a pastel drawing of that day’s gospel; to this day he still favours pastels. However his secondary school did not teach Art and he had to wait until he was an adult to attend night classes.
He received a good grounding in water colours from an I.N.S.T teacher called Mackie, a well known painter and art expert of his day. In the following years Sean attended various further education institutes and became proficient in all mediums. Sean has taken part in lots of group exhibitions including venues such as:
• the City Hall
• the Odyssey Arena
• Fisherwick Church Malone Road
• Malone House Malone Road
Some of his work is currently on show at the Belfast Castle.
Sean has also just completed a very successful solo exhition at the Falls Road Library.
